So far this month we have discussed actor casting types, creating characters types for auditions rapidly and marketing basics for actors. In this session we will cover the topc that out Monthyl Challenge is all about: Which famous actor/s are you "casting-adjacent" to.

Figuring out who you are casting-adjascent to will help you in a big way to create marketing materials, apply for auditions, get heatshots and plan your own content. Bring in examples of which actors you think you are adjacent to and make sure to take part in this month's Monthly Challenge inside the community.

Understanding Auditions - from the Production Perspective - Thurs 6 Aug

Understanding Auditions - from the Production Perspective

DATE: Thursday 6 August

TIME: 11:00 Los Angeles / 14:00 New York / 19:00 UK / 20:00 Central Europe

FORMAT: Zoom. Link only available to LIVE and PRO  members.

ACCESS: LIVE & PRO members only.

As an actor, do you really understand where auditions come from? Who are casting directors actually, and how much power do they have in the overall process. Why are some actors cast before the "open castings" and some cast during the "open castings".

Who actually initiates the audition process, who makes the final decisions, and how can you use that knowledge to help yourself land more parts?

What aspect of your audtion or self tape make the most impact on these decision-makers.

As an actor, if you understand the audition process as it aligns with the different stages of production, it will help you know where to focus your energy, but also help with that horrible feeling of not getting the part you so badly wanted. Once you "see behind the curtain" and understand the machinery, it should strengthen your resolve, your psychology and focus your attention.

Monthly Themes

Each month, Unbound Actor focuses on one clear theme. That theme guides our live events, Monthly Challenge, discussion prompts and general community focus for the month.

It gives you a practical area of your acting career to work on — from headshots, casting profiles and showreels to pitching, agents, auditions, production research, actor marketing and creating your own opportunities. You can take part as much or as little as you like, but the monthly theme gives the community a shared focus, helping members take action, ask better questions, get feedback and move forward together.
